Empower parents with the skills they need to teach their children.

If you’re like me, you spend the majority of your energy teaching the essential cores of Math and Language Arts and wanting to include other activities and subjects that enrich our children and our family life.

Especially in Kindergarten, I searched Pinterest for age-appropriate activities that got our hands dirty and our minds engaged. At the same time, my daughter was already reading, so the alphabet letter crafts didn’t always engage her.

As many homeschooling resources are born, this site was created because I found many wonderful options, but none that were exactly what I was looking for.

Provide easy-to-follow guides and lessons to create meaningful art.

We would love to join an art class, but honestly, at some point, we have to consider the time and finances. I had to carefully consider how I was using both, as I’m sure you do as well.

Because, as a homeschooling mom, the options to add socialization and enrichment to my child’s life are almost finite. We could do co-op’s and nature groups, soccer, art lessons, camps…the list is endless. But, we do need to do some academics and we have a budget for both time and money that we can spend and stay healthy.

I can’t teach dance, nature can be found at our house, but it’s limited to our neighborhood, and no matter what I cannot teach her valuable relationship skills the same as her friends. But, I can teach her to love art, even though I’m not an artist. So I set out to do that.

Encourage art through guided drawing and free exploration.

While I do believe firmly in the freedom to create, as the state of my dining room table can attest to, I also understand that there is value in learning some skills. Guided drawings are an essential part of the young artist’s growth.

Similar to how we showed our children that crayons were meant for coloring and not for eating, guided drawings help us to deliver our children how lines can curve and shapes come alive. After we’ve given them the foundation, they’ll have more confidence to create.

Help parents determine how to publish the piles of art.

The word publish might seem a bit intimidating, but it just means what we are creating with their art. Let’s face it, the piles of youthful art are rarely masterpieces, yet we’re emotionally connected with them.

I determined early on that we were going to create with them. The pride on a child’s face as their art is valued enough to turn into something tangible is irreplaceable. Whether it’s a yearbook for the house that showcases their years’ creations, or a new throw pillow for grandma, it’s relatively easy.

    So Basically…

I wanted an educational environment full of enriching art and science projects. However, I was on a budget and realized I needed to teach those at home.

After searching for resources, I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, so I created my own. Finding creative ways to create gifts and keepsakes with the intense piles of artwork we accumulated, I created this blog to help other parents do the same.
